WayOut

Cocoon WayOUT provides fun interactive seminars to youth and their parents or other connected adult. Together teens and parents build communication and decision making skills and begin to understanding personal differences that may cause conflict. Cocoon WayOUT strengthens the bonds between parents and teens by engaging them in interactive presentations, team building exercises and games

Cocoon WayOUT seminars bring parents and teens together to learn healthy life skills. WayOUT provides strengths-based skill building workshops for low-risk youth and their parents or other connected adult. Seminars are 12 hours and are either held on consecutive Saturdays, or over the period of three evenings.

In order to attend the WayOUT Seminars, families must be referred from the Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS) of the Juvenile Court, Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) or Cocoon Project SAFE. Cocoon WayOUT focuses on low risk juvenile offenders and at-risk teens. For every dollar spent on this program, taxpayers save approximately $7.89 in avoided crime costs such as legal proceedings, juvenile detention and incarceration.
