Cocoon Project SAFE provides intervention and support to parents experiencing difficulties with their teens. Through phone consultations and educational groups parents and guardians receive services to strengthen the family and ultimately prevent youth from leaving the home. The goal is to keep families intact and youth off the streets and out of harm's way.
Phone Consultation:
Cocoon Project SAFE's phone line helps parents through a 90-minute phone consultation. Parents can access this in-depth phone service anonymously from their home. Project SAFE will help you develop an action plan that confronts issues that may be underlying your teen's symptomatic behavior and identifies other community resources that may be beneficial. Cocoon Project SAFE is designed to help parents and guardians to delve beyond their child's destructive behavior patterns to expose the nature of what may be causing the behavior. The therapist will even follow up with you to review the action plan created in the initial phone consultation and discuss ways to confront barriers that may come up.
Educational Groups:
Cocoon Project SAFE also offers educational parenting groups in multiple three-week series sessions, as well as through stand-alone classes. Project SAFE has developed this full curriculum to help parents and guardians build a better understanding of teen development and learn strategies for working with their teens. Examples of course titles are: "What's going on in my teen's brain?," "Handling Today with Your Teen," and "Your Teen's Quest for Identity." Educational groups are offered in Everett and Arlington and childcare is provided when necessary. Class size is limited, so please call in advance.
