Cocoon WayOUT provides fun interactive behavioral seminars to youth and their parents or other connected adult. Together teens and parents build communication and decision making skills and understanding personal differences. Cocoon WayOUT focuses its efforts on first time juvenile offenders and at-risk teens. For every dollar spent on this program, taxpayers save approximately $7.89 in avoided crime costs such as legal proceedings, juvenile detention and incarceration. Cocoon WayOUT is also designed to open up the communication lines between the teen and parent and help build stronger family relationships.
Cocoon WayOUT Seminars are designed to bring parents and teens together to learn healthy life skills. WayOUT provides communications-based behavioral workshops for low-risk youth and their parents or other connected adult. Over a period of 12 hours the parent and child participate in interactive seminars facilitated by community agencies, as well as team-building exercises and games. Seminars are either held on consecutive Saturdays, or over the period of three evenings. In order to attend the WayOUT Seminars, you must be referred by Juvenile Court, DCFS or Cocoon Project SAFE.
