Volunteering at Cocoon House

Volunteers are essential to the work of Cocoon House. Donating just a few hours of your time makes a difference in the lives of Cocoon youth. Take a look at the available opportunities and volunteer requirements. If you meet the requirements and are interested in helping, we would love to hear from you!

Volunteer Requirements:

Cocoon House is licensed by Washington State to provide services to youth. To comply with the state’s licensing requirements, Cocoon House must ensure that all volunteers meet some specific requirements. Please take a moment to review these requirementsPlease note that we cannot accommodate internships or community services hours at this time. 

Individual Opportunities

You can make a difference in a youth's life! We could not continue to provide the high level of services to at-risk and homeless youth without the support and dedication of our wonderful community members. We are always seeking new volunteers to help with tasks such as admin support, donating meals, teaching life skills classes, and much more. 

Interested in volunteering? Here is what we typically look for in a volunteer:

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Complete a volunteer application
  • Consent to and clear a background check
  • Have a valid driver’s license or other form of legal identification

Julio will contact you to set up an interview time, where you will fill out additional paperwork, learn more about volunteering at Cocoon House, and discuss when you can get started.

Group Opportunities

Looking for a group project? We would love your help! Groups of volunteers are great for getting large projects done in a short amount of time. Groups can help with anything from hosting a collection drive to preparing meals or tackling a maintenance project, for example. 

Interested in helping? Here’s what we typically look for in groups:

  • All volunteers must be over the age of 21
  • A group volunteer leader must be designated
  • No group is too big or too small. We will try our best to accommodate your interests
  • Scheduling 3 to 4 weeks in advance is preferred
  • The group leader will meet with the volunteer coordinator to go over the project details

How to get started:

Confirm the approximate size of your group and some times and dates that you all would like to volunteer.

Julio will contact you to work out details. You will learn more about volunteering at Cocoon House and what kinds of projects are needed. Projects typically consist of things like painting, yardwork, organizing, cooking, and maintenance.
