TELL US YOUR COCOON HOUSE STORY

For more than 35 years, Cocoon House has been a place of safety, growth, and connection and that’s because of people like you. Whether you were once a youth who found support here, a staff member who helped make a difference, or a community partner who stood beside us, your story is part of our impact.

We’d love to hear how Cocoon House has made a difference in your life or your community.

VOICES AND STORIES

  • This youth came in living in a place not meant for habitation, not having custody of her kids, along with some mental health concerns and physical health concerns.

I had a client that came in this year to receive advocate services. This youth showed initiative from the very jump, already coming in knowing what her plan was, including how she could get her kids back into her custody as well as how to find housing. Within a few weeks, this youth was able to get her own apartment, get custody of her kids, get mental health help, and so much more. Cocoon House assisted in getting documents, however the youth did most of the work themselves, with us getting them into a hotel and them finding housing only one day later. This is truly a success story that I feel like encapsulates the work we do here and the push that we are able to give our clients in knowing that they are worth having these successes in their life, making it easier for them to accomplish set goals, knowing that they have a support system to back them up.

    - ZOE/EVERETT ADVOCATE

  • A youth was on my case load several months ago, unhoused, no job, lack of resources and needing assistance.

During our time together doing case management, we were able to successfully get all his needed documents, obtain him a full-time job, and got him fully housed through our SYAH Rapid rehousing program.

    - ANGELINA/NORTH COUNTY ADVOCATE

  • A young person recently worked alongside her case manager to determine and work toward her education goals.

With the support of the Transitions team, she was able to re-enroll in school, attend regularly, and meet the requirements needed to graduate. She recently graduated this Spring and is now attending and living in the dorms at Everett Community College! Cocoon House staff have worked with her to apply to school, fill out her FAFSA, and sign up for space in the on-campus dorms. Cocoon House staff are incredibly excited for her journey, and we look forward to working with her as she transitions from Cocoon House housing programs into an on-campus dorm.
